Quick answer

Find My doesn't have its own GPS — it shares whatever location the device signed into your Apple ID reports. So there are two ways to fake location on Find My iPhone: change that device's system location, or tell Find My to share from a different device that sits where you want to appear. Neither needs a jailbreak, and Find My sends no alert when a GPS position changes.

iOS 27 Hide Location is free

iOS 27 includes a free Hide Location feature that temporarily hides your location from an individual contact. That person sees "No Location Found" and receives no notification. The effect is temporary, and location sharing resumes automatically.

Hide Location rules
  • Hide Location applies to individual contacts.
  • That contact sees No Location Found and receives no notification.
Temporary privacy, not a new coordinate
  • Hiding ends later the same day or sharing resumes automatically the next day.
  • Hide Location does not display a chosen fake coordinate.

Method 1: Change your iPhone's system location

A system-level location changer makes your iPhone report a different GPS position to every app at once — Find My included. Find My displays the new shared position with live updates and movement, without a "paused" or stale status.

Because it's system-level, the same setup also covers Life360, Snapchat, dating apps and games on the same phone. Disabling the method or restarting restores the real location.

Method 2: Share your location from a spare iPhone or iPad

Find My lets you choose which of your devices your location is shared from:

  1. On the spare device, sign in with the same Apple ID.
  2. Open Find My → Me → enable "Share My Location".
  3. Set "Use This Device As My Location" on the spare device.
  4. Leave the spare device where you want to appear — home, work, a friend's place.

Your friends and family now see the spare device's location as yours. It uses 100% genuine GPS data from the spare device. Your own phone no longer supplies the shared position, so the spare device must remain at the intended location and retain power.

What about "Find My Friends"?

Find My Friends was the old name — Apple merged it into Find My years ago, and the location-sharing feature remains the same. Everything on this page applies to "fake location on Find My Friends" exactly the same way.

Will the other person know?

Find My has no notification for a changed GPS position. What people can notice: a location that teleports instantly across the country, or one that sits frozen at one address for a week. Keep it believable — a real address, changes that look like trips — and there's nothing for Find My to flag.

FAQ

What doesn't work

  • Turning off "Share My Location": your people stop seeing you — the missing location is obvious, and iOS may alert them that you stopped sharing.
  • Location Services off / Airplane Mode: Find My falls back to your last location or shows "No location found" — a visible red flag.
  • A VPN: changes your IP, not GPS. Find My uses GPS and device signals, so nothing moves.
  • App Store "fake GPS" apps: Apple doesn't let apps override system location. Those apps can only drop a fake pin inside a chat or their own map — Find My never sees it.
Scope and limitations

The built-in feature only hides your location; it cannot show a specific fake location. If you need to display a fake location, our system-level solution is an option. Contact us on WhatsApp for a free compatibility check before ordering.

How do I change my Find My location without the other person knowing?

Change the system location of the device you share from (Method 1), or switch sharing to a spare device (Method 2). Both keep your status live and normal — no alerts are sent for either.

Can I fake location on Find My iPhone without a computer?

The spare-device method does not require a computer. System-level changers typically pair the phone with a desktop app or a hardware assist, depending on your iOS version — send the exact version for an assessment of the supported route.

Does this work on the latest iOS?

The spare-device method works on every iOS version, since it's a built-in Apple feature. System-level change depends on your exact iOS version; the free compatibility check assesses this requirement.

If I stop sharing and start again, will they be notified?

Stopping sharing can notify the people you share with. Changing the GPS position does not — so these actions have different notification behavior.
